In 1741, the monks of the Abbey Saint-Croix reclaimed stewardship of the vineyard, exclusively crafting dry white wines predominantly from the Sémillon grape. Guided by the enlightened leadership of Dom Galéas, a distinguished cellarer monk, the estate witnessed its white wines ascend to the pinnacle of regional excellence. In homage to this storied history and this authentic terroir, Château Carbonnieux produces a unique cuvée, comprised entirely of 100 old vines of Sémillon, aged approximately 70 years. This limited-edition cuvée emerges solely in exceptional years for Sémillon, a fitting tribute to Carbonnieux's legacy and a true reflection of its singular terroir.
