- 95 Punkte DECANTER, Sophie Thorpe (032026) im Artikel I forgot how delicious mature Bordeaux is: 22 bottle-aged wines to drink now : This is still a baby, only just starting shift into more tertiary aromas on the nose with plenty of dark fruit dominating still. It is vibrant and intense on the palate, packed with fruit yet this is balanced by a firm ferrous quality, a savoury, mineral thread that runs through to the finish. The tannins are present yet not dominating, integrated with the fruit and mouthwatering acidity. Blend: 75 Cabernet Sauvignon, 22 Merlot, 2 Cabernet Franc and 1 Petit Verdot. 2026-2046.

Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Herrliches Kaffeebouquet, Zedernholz, helle Ledernoten, ganz zarter Korinthenschimmer, mitteltief im Ansatz und auch vom Druck her mehr elegant aber irgendwie auch defensiv. Der Gaumen ist fein, zeigt Klasse und eine wunderschöne Balance, die Tannine sind mild gestimmt, nachhaltiges Finale und genau dann, wenn man den Schluss ermittelt, kommen ein paar recht sehnige Muskeln zum Tragen. Das ist dann mehr ein Absender der Appellation Saint Estèphe als ein Merkmal für Cos. Wird sich für einmal tendenziell somit eher klassisch entwickeln. (1820). 18: In der gleichen Woche verkostete ich auch noch andere 2012er. Dieser Cos weiss zu beeindrucken. Voin der Farbe bis zum Finish. Sehr dunkel und dabei jedenfalls dunkler als viele andere Konkurrenten. Die Nase würzig, deutlich röstig, viel Kaffee und Soyasauce, Schwarzbrot, darunter schwarze Beeren. Im Gaumen konzentriert und fleischig, dabei aber erstaunlich fein bleibend.

- 94 Punkte WINE ENTHUSIAST, Roger Voss: This is one of the vintages from Cos that seems to pull out all the stops. The fruit is so rich, the texture so dense, and deep flavors of chocolate back up the huge structure. It does work in its magnificent, flamboyant way. And at the end, the acidity does its part and gives the wine a final lift. Drink from 2024.
- 94 Punkte VINOUS, Antonio Galloni: The 2012 Cos d'Estournel is beautifully delineated and layered in the glass. A wine of nuance and precision, the 2012 possesses a remarkable combination of richness and detail. A blast of dark red cherry jam, rose petals, mint and cinnamon informs the deep, pliant finish. I imagine the 2012 will offer several decades of very fine drinking. This is a terrific 2012 with a good deal of upside potential.
- 93+ Punkte Robert Parkers WINE ADVOCATE, Lisa Perrotti-Brown: The 2012 Cos d'Estournel is a blend of 75 Cabernet Sauvignon, 22 Merlot, 2 Cabernet Franc and 1 Petit Verdot. It has a deep garnet-purple color and reveals expressive black cherries, black raspberries and red and black plums scents with subtler notes of cassis, menthol, pencil lead and cigar box plus a touch of lavender. Medium-bodied and elegantly styled, with a rock-solid frame of chewy tannins, it delivers a lively lift on the long finish. This is a lovely wine with slightly chewier tannins and less stuffing than the 2011. Needs 4-5 years.

Saftig, elegant, gute Komplexität, tragende Tannine, Nougat im Abgang, zeigt gute Länge, Noten von Orangen im Nachhall, hat Zukunft.
- 93 Punkte JEB DUNNUCK: The 2012 from Cos d'Estournel is a streamlined, elegant version of this cuvée that offers first rate notes of crème de cassis, graphite, smoked herbs and saddle leather, with hints of oak pushed into the background. Supple, medium to full-bodied and charming, yet with enough tannin to warrant short term cellaring, give bottles 5-6 years in the cellaring and enjoy over the following two decades.

- JANCIS ROBINSON: Tasted blind. Blackish crimson. Mild and moderate with many a suggestion of attractive ripe fruit. Very opulent and modern indeed. Somehow more green than fresh. A little inky on the end but no shortage of ambition. Just finishes a little suddenly. ;
