Weitere Infos zum Weingut finden Sie auf unserer Website. 100 Pinot Noir Trauben aus dem Willamette Valley, davon Chehalem Mountains (64) und Dundee Hills (36), vulkanischer Basalt Boden, Klone: Pommard, Wädenswil, Dijon 115 & 777, bis zu 30 Jahre alte Reben, zu 100 entrappt Spontanvergärung, spontane malolaktische Gärung, 20 Monate im Barrique (25 neu), keine Schönung oder Filtration. 4000 Kisten erzeugt. 13,5 vol.
- 93 Punkte Owen Bargreen: Like the name suggests, the stony 2018 Basalte Pinot Noir is sourced from vines set on fractured basalt. The nose smells beautifully of stony terroir, as rich dark fruits parade with orange blossom and shades of pine needles on the nose. Beautiful textured and wonderfully stony and salty, this outstanding, black fruit-driven Pinot Noir will be sure to satisfy over the next twelve plus years.
- 93 Punkte James Suckling: Aromas of red berries, violets and nutmeg. Medium-bodied with bright, driving acidity. Strawberry and red cherry. The fresh fruit is carried by slightly tight tannins. VERY ENERGETIC. Unfiltered. Drink or hold.

- 91 Punkte VINOUS, Josh Raynolds: Bright ruby. Aromas of ripe red and dark berries, vanilla, woodsmoke and licorice carry a spicy overtone. Juicy and nicely concentrated, offering subtly sweet black raspberry and cherry cola flavors and a touch of botanical herbs. Closes long and spicy, with gentle tannins lending final grip . 2023-2031. Erni Loosen, of long-time Mosel fame, and his nephew, Daniel Emmes, are in full control of J. Christopher now. As of the 2020 vintage, the wines are being made by Timothy Malone. (Malone was an assistant winemaker here before leaving to launch his own, eponymous winery in 2015, and still runs that project on the side.) These 2018s are very good across the board and benefit quite a bit from aeration. ;
